Gary J. Tunnicliffe has been an integral part of the film industry since 1989, with a primary focus on designing and creating special makeup effects for over 130 feature films. His impressive body of work includes collaborations with numerous renowned horror franchises, such as Hellraiser, Halloween, Candyman, Scream, Exorcist, Blade, Feast, Prophecy, Mimic, Scary Movie, and The Collector, among others.
Gary has earned a reputation for crafting elaborate and shocking death sequences, which has led to his nickname, "The Hollywood Assassin." At the age of 27, he made his directorial debut with the science fiction horror film "Within The Rock," produced by Robert Patrick, who is also known for his work on Terminator 2 and Walk The Line.
Since then, Gary has directed multiple feature films, including the critically acclaimed Hellraiser Judgment, and has had the opportunity to work with a diverse range of talented actors, including Christopher Lloyd, Chevy Chase, Dakota Fanning, Chloe Grace Moretz, Lynne Redgrave, Katy Segal, Howie Mandel, Wallace Shawn, and James Earl Jones.
In addition to his directing work, Gary has also written several produced screenplays, produced, directed second unit, acted, performed stunts, and puppeteered on a variety of projects. Currently based in Los Angeles, Gary continues to create effects, special props, and promotional pieces for film, television, and stage productions. He also maintains a design studio in Northridge, just minutes away from Hollywood.
