Person Biography:
Gary Private, a second-generation Italian-American, was born in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn, New York. He began his music career as a drummer, playing in various New York City bands, including Legs Latreau, Dancer, and Arrival. He eventually formed his own band and signed a recording contract as a singer-songwriter with Select Records.
Private's music career took off when he performed at Studio 54 for Calvin Klein's birthday party, leading to a recording contract with Atlantic Records. He released several albums, including "Reach Out, I'll Be There" and "Secret Love," featuring original songs written by Private.
Throughout his career, Private has worked with numerous renowned musicians, including T.M. Stevens, David Bowie's Stan Harrison, Arno Hecht, Steely Dan's Elliott Randall, Meatloaf's Bob Kulick, and Kenny "Double A" Aaronson. He has also been featured on various TV shows, including Dick Clark's American Bandstand, Playboy's Girls of Rock-N-Roll, and Disney's Flight of the Navigator.
In recent years, Private has released 32 compilation albums with Warner Brothers Music, featuring artists such as Foreigner, Elvis Costello, and Duran Duran. He has also recorded at Diane Warren's personal studio, "REALSONGS Hollywood," singing her song "Faith Of The Heart."
As a SAG/AFTRA actor, Private has appeared in films alongside notable actors such as James Spader, Quentin Tarantino, and Leonardo DiCaprio. He has also done numerous soundtracks, voice overs, and commercials.
In addition to his music and acting career, Private has worked in LA hospitality, including eight years as lead security for the House of Blues Foundation Room on Sunset Blvd, and managing partner of Hollywood & Vine Diner/Ultra Lounge nightclub in LA.
