Gary Schmoeller, a seasoned film professional, joined Filmwerks at its inception in 1993, as a Producer, with a three-picture deal between Trimark Pictures and Filmwerks. Prior to producing, Schmoeller started his film career as a Production Manager for four feature films.
With a strong background in business, Schmoeller has overseen the financial and business affairs of Filmwerks, maintaining relationships with guaranty bond companies, lending institutions, legal and accounting firms, and directly servicing contracts with film distribution companies worldwide.
Schmoeller, a Texas native, holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Texas at El Paso. He was a touring professional tennis player, attending UT on an athletic scholarship, before embarking on a business career in the transportation industry.
As a veteran line producer, Schmoeller has worked on 30 films, beginning his career as a production manager with director Brian Yuzna on "Society" and "Bride of Re-Animator". He managed four films before taking on a role as a line producer and co-producer.
Throughout his career, Schmoeller has worked as a true "indie producer" with budgets ranging from $750,000 to $6.5 million, both as a free lance producer and as a principal in a film production company. He is the President and Chief Operations Officer of Filmwerks.
Raised in West Texas, Schmoeller received a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Texas, attending UT on an athletic scholarship for Tennis. He was a touring professional tennis player until his early thirties when he began a business career in the transportation industry.
