George Jeffrie was a multifaceted creative force, boasting a distinguished career as both a writer and actor. His impressive repertoire includes notable television shows such as The Windsors, Pete Versus Life, and The Armstrong and Miller Show, all of which showcased his exceptional talent for crafting engaging narratives and characters.
In collaboration with his long-time writing partner, Bert Tyler-Moore, George was responsible for penning three highly successful and enduring comedy series for Channel 4. Their first venture, Star Stories, earned a prestigious British Comedy Award in 2006 and garnered two BAFTA nominations, solidifying its status as a groundbreaking and influential program. This was followed by the cult hit Pete Versus Life, which starred Rafe Spall, and ultimately, The Windsors, featuring the esteemed Harry Enfield, whose third series aired earlier in 2020 and received a BAFTA nomination.
Throughout their careers, George and Bert contributed to numerous iconic sketch and entertainment shows, spanning over two decades. Their impressive credits include Armstrong & Miller, Smack The Pony, Big Train, The Kumars at No. 42, Ruddy Hell! It’s Harry and Paul, and the recently revived Spitting Image, which made its triumphant return in September 2020.
Prior to his success as a writer, George began his career as a stand-up comedian, part of the popular double act Chris & George. They were a beloved fixture on the club circuit, enjoying a few notable appearances at the Reading Festival.
