Kevin Michael "GG" Allin, born Jesus Christ Allin on August 29, 1956, was an American punk rock singer-songwriter who made a name for himself through his controversial live performances and recordings.
Throughout his career, Allin performed with numerous groups and was recognized for his transgressive acts, including self-mutilation, onstage defecation and coprophagia, indecent exposure, and assaulting audience members, resulting in multiple arrests and imprisonments.
Despite the criticism and controversy surrounding his music and stage antics, Allin remained a prominent figure in the punk community, known for his provocative and often racist and misogynistic lyrics.
As a singer-songwriter, Allin recorded prolifically across various genres, including punk rock, spoken word, country, and traditional-style rock. His music was often poorly produced and distributed, and received mostly negative reviews from critics, yet he maintained a dedicated cult following throughout his career.
In the years leading up to his death, Allin frequently stated his intention to die by suicide on stage, but tragically, his life came to an end on June 28, 1993, at the age of 36, due to an accidental drug overdose.
