Godehard Giese's academic journey began with a three-year stint studying German and Italian at the esteemed Humboldt University of Berlin. He subsequently pursued his passion for the performing arts by enrolling in the Acting program at the University of the Arts (UdK) in Berlin, where he refined his craft and prepared for a career in the entertainment industry.
Following his formal education, Giese joined the Stadttheater Hildesheim for a two-year period, honing his skills and gaining valuable experience in the world of theater. As his career progressed, he began to transition into film and television, making his debut in 2005. Since then, he has had the privilege of working with some of the most renowned directors in the industry, including Emily Atef, Edward Berger, Ilker Çatak, Oliver Hirschbiegel, Andreas Kleinert, Marie Kreuzer, Christian Petzold, Markus Schleinzer, Hans-Christian Schmid, Tom Tykwer, Gore Verbinski, and Wim Wenders.
In addition to his work as an actor, Giese has also ventured into directing, making his debut with the film "The Story of the Astronaut" in 2014. This project, which he not only directed but also produced and wrote the screenplay for, premiered at the prestigious Max Ophüls Preis film festival. As an actor, Giese has received numerous accolades, including three nominations for the German Film Award presented by the German Film Academy, and a win for his role in Fabian Stumms' "Sad Jokes". Furthermore, he took home the German Television Academy Award for Best Actor, solidifying his reputation as a talented and versatile performer.
