Born in the vibrant city of Cleveland, Ohio, Morris made the bold move to the City of Angels, Hollywood, in the early 1960s, marking the beginning of his journey in the entertainment industry. Prior to his arrival in Hollywood, Morris had accumulated a modest amount of acting experience on the Seattle stage, with his roles being largely minor in nature.
As he transitioned to television, Morris landed guest appearances on popular shows such as The Dick Van Dyke Show in 1961 and The Twilight Zone in 1959, further honing his craft and gaining valuable experience. His big break came in 1966 when he was cast as the quiet and efficient electronics expert Barney Collier in the iconic television series Mission: Impossible, a role he would play from 1966 to 1973.
Following the conclusion of Mission: Impossible, Morris continued to appear in various television series and a couple of television movies, keeping his acting career alive and thriving. In 1979, he relocated to Las Vegas to star in the television series Vega$ (1978),where he played the role of Lt. David Nelson. Morris was so enamored with the city that he decided to make it his permanent residence, a decision that would ultimately last for two years.
Tragedy struck in 1981 when Morris was involved in a serious road accident, leaving him with a long and arduous recovery process. As a result, he took an extended hiatus from television, a break that would last for several years.
Morris eventually returned to the small screen in 1989 with a short-lived remake of Mission: Impossible (1988),a project that unfortunately did not gain the same level of success as the original series. In 1990, Morris was diagnosed with cancer, a devastating blow that would test his resolve and resilience.
