Gregg Binkley has had a prolific career in film and television spanning over three decades. His impressive resume boasts credits in movies directed by legendary directors such as Mel Brooks, Clint Eastwood, the Coen Brothers, and Woody Allen. His journey in the entertainment industry began when he was discovered while working as a character actor at the iconic Ed Debevics diner in Beverly Hills, where he played the role of Barney Fife, the "security guard".
Rick Dees, a prominent late-night show host, saw Gregg's potential and invited him to appear on his ABC show, Into the Night with Rick Dees. Gregg became a series regular for the show's one-year run. His subsequent roles included starring as Harold Skolnick in the Revenge of the Nerds 3 and 4 films and as "Dan the Del Taco Guy" in a successful six-year advertising campaign, featuring 58 television commercials, numerous radio spots, and personal appearances.
During this period, Gregg also portrayed Don Knotts in the NBC movie of the week, Behind the Scenes of Three's Company. He later landed the role of Kenny James in the Emmy award-winning pilot episode of the NBC hit show My Name is Earl, which he continued to play for 20 episodes over the course of four years. Two years later, Gregg joined the cast of the Fox hit show Raising Hope as a series regular, playing the role of Barney Hughes in 71 episodes over the show's four-year run.
In addition to his acting credits, Gregg has also ventured into directing, with projects for Pure Flix including Hitting the Breaks, Malibu Dan, and The Beverlys. His recent acting credits include guest starring roles on NCIS: Los Angeles, Young Sheldon, and NCIS. In 2017, Gregg founded the "Working Actors Workshop", which has since become a valuable resource for aspiring actors.
In 2024, Gregg released his inspirational book, GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER: Finding Success in Acting and Life, which has received endorsements from numerous Emmy award winners, including Bryan Cranston, Greg Garcia, and Eric Stonestreet.
