Heinz-Otto Peitgen, a renowned German mathematician, has had a distinguished academic career, having taught at the University of Bremen, the University of California at Santa Cruz, and Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton. His books on chaos and fractals have achieved unparalleled success worldwide, maintaining their popularity for several decades.
From 1981 to 1988, Peitgen's laboratory was a pioneering computer graphics research center, uniquely managed by mathematicians and physicists. His collaborative efforts with Peter Richter's group resulted in the production of several films in association with the Goettingen Institut fuer den Wissenschaftlichen Film (IWF),as well as two films for Spectrum-Verlag, Heidelberg, which was responsible for the German edition of Scientific American. One of these films, titled "Fractals: An Animated Discussion," has become a notable contribution to the field.
