Biography

Howard Owens is the Co-Founder and Co-CEO of Propagate Content, one of the fastest-growing independent content creation and distribution companies worldwide. As a three-time Emmy nominee, Owens has produced notable shows such as Hillary for Hulu, Killing Kennedy, and Running Wild with Bear Grylls for National Geographic.

Under his leadership, Propagate has accumulated an impressive portfolio of unscripted and scripted credits, including Untold and Haunted for Netflix, Burning for Amazon Prime Video, LFG for HBO Max, Chopped for Food Network, "In Search Of" and "Kings of Pain" for the History Channel, and Go-Big Show for TBS. Their scripted credits include Charmed for the CW, Rebelde for Netflix, and Zulu for Showtime.

Propagate's expanding network of companies comprises domestic production companies Electus, Big Breakfast, and Notional, France's Incognito, a surveyor of premium scripted content, and talent management firms Artists First, Authentic Talent & Literary Management, and Select Management.

Before co-founding Propagate, Owens served as President of National Geographic Channels, overseeing corporate strategy, production, and revenue. During his tenure, he launched unscripted programs such as The Incredible Doctor Pol, Cosmos: A SpaceTime Odyssey, Doomsday Preppers, Ultimate Survival Alaska, Live Free or Die, Inside Combat Rescue, Caesar 911, Wicked Tuna, Brain Games, and Life Below Zero. Owens also introduced original scripted programming to National Geographic Channels with Killing Lincoln, Emmy-nominated Killing Kennedy, and Killing Jesus.

Prior to National Geographic Channels, Owens was an original partner of Ben Silverman's Reveille, which became one of the most significant independent production and distribution companies for NBC. During his time at Reveille, Owens produced iconic TV series such as The Office, The Biggest Loser, MasterChef, Ugly Betty, The Tutors, and many others.

Owens began his entertainment career at the William Morris Agency as an agent trainee in the mail room, quickly ascending to agent in the corporate consulting and television packaging divisions. There, he represented television producers, international formats, and top brands such as Maxim, InStyle, eBay, and Miramax Films.

Throughout his career, Owens has received numerous awards and nominations, including a Critics Choice Award for Emmy-nominated Hillary, two Insight Awards of Excellence from the National Association of Film and Digital Media Artists for his work on FX's 30 Days, a GLAAD Award, a PGA Award nomination, and a Voice of Courage and Conscience Media Award by the Muslim Public Affairs Council.

Owens holds a Bachelor of Arts from Southern Methodist University and a Juris Doctor from Quinnipiac School of Law.
