Hrafn Gunnlaugsson, a renowned Icelandic film director, was born on June 17, 1948, in the vibrant city of Reykjavik. As a sibling, he shares a strong familial bond with his brother, the esteemed mathematician Þorvaldur Gunnlaugsson, and his sisters, the lawyer Snædís Gunnlaugsdóttir and the talented actress Tinna Gunnlaugsdóttir.

Gunnlaugsson is particularly famous for his captivating series of Viking films, affectionately dubbed "Cod Westerns," which have garnered widespread acclaim. His personal life is also noteworthy, as he was previously married to the lovely Edda Kristjánsdóttir, with whom he shares four remarkable children.
