Ian, a renowned television producer and writer, is notable for his work as the Executive Producer and Showrunner of seasons 3, 4, and 5 of the popular Netflix series, Slasher, as well as its respective releases on Shudder and AMC.
Ian's educational background includes a stint at the Canadian Film Centre's Television Program, where he graduated with honors. Notably, he was the first recipient of the prestigious Global Television Emerging Writer Award.
Prior to his successful television career, Ian founded Theatre Viscera, a theatre company that he wrote and directed for ten years. During this period, his work toured internationally, visiting Singapore and Spain, and received critical acclaim, with three of his plays being recognized as top ten productions of the year. In 1997, he was featured as one of NOW magazine's top ten theatre artists of the year.
Ian furthered his education by completing a Ph.D. in Film at the University of Toronto. Following his graduation, he took a departure from academia to run the development arm of a large charity in Bangkok, working with underprivileged communities.
In addition to his professional endeavors, Ian is committed to giving back to his community. He volunteers his time teaching writing to streetkids at the Yonge Street Mission and the POV program for disadvantaged youths. Moreover, he serves as a mentor for the Canadian Centre for Victims of Torture.
Ian's artistic pursuits have also led to the creation of a postcard play, which is now part of the permanent collections of both the Museum of Modern Art and the Brooklyn Museum, as featured in the art zine Abe's Penny.
