Ian Ritchie is a multifaceted English artist, renowned for his exceptional skills as a composer, record producer, arranger, and saxophonist. His impressive career has seen him collaborate with numerous notable figures in the music industry, including Roger Waters, Laurie Anderson, Pete Wylie, Hugh Cornwell, and the Big Dish.
As a composer, Ritchie has created the iconic theme music for the travel show Globe Trekker, previously known as the Lonely Planet Theme. His saxophone playing has been featured on various tracks, including "See the Day" by Dee C Lee, "Club Tropicana" by Wham!, and "C'est La Vie" by Robbie Nevil. In addition, he has released a number of singles under the name Miro Miroe and a debut jazz album titled Ian Ritchie's SOHO Project.
Ritchie's extensive touring schedule has seen him perform with various bands and artists. He toured as saxophonist with Roger Waters as part of the backing band on the Dark Side of the Moon Live tour from 2006 to 2008. In 2010, he joined Australian progressive rock band Unitopia for a European tour. In 2013, he released his second jazz album, South of Houston, under his own name.
In addition to his solo work, Ritchie has also produced an album for the dance group URUBU and performs with them. He is a member of several bands, including the Blue Jays, the Cricklewood Cats, Tina T's Smooth Soul, and the Crown Moran Allstars. The latter group has an eponymous album written and produced by Ritchie.
In 2016, Ritchie took part in the historic Desert Trip concerts at Coachella. From 2017 to 2018, he toured with Roger Waters' new lineup, playing tenor saxophone as part of the Us + Them show. This tour visited 157 venues across the world.
