Ian Whyte was born in Bangor, North Wales, and raised in Brighton, England. He was 7'1" tall by the time he was 17 years old, making him stand out from the crowd. Ian discovered basketball in his teens and quickly caught the attention of national team scouts due to his physical attributes and determination. He played for various teams across Europe, representing his country 80 times.
Ian's career in basketball led him to play for the Newcastle Eagles, where he retired in 2003. He then transitioned to acting, making his film debut in Alien Vs Predator. He worked alongside notable professionals, including Oscar-winning special effects duo Alec Gillis and Tom Woodruff Jr.
Ian's breakthrough role came when he doubled for the character Madame Maxime in the Harry Potter franchise. He then went on to work on AVP Requiem, where he had to re-audition for the part of the Predator. Ian's dedication to his craft led him to prepare extensively for the role, which involved martial arts training and studying the Chinese martial art of Ba Gua.
Ian continued to work in the film industry, appearing in Clash of the Titans, Harrigan, Prometheus, and Game of Thrones. He played various roles in the show, including the White Walker and Wun Wun, and was involved in every season.
Ian's next significant role was in Star Wars, where he worked as a stunt double and brought to life other creatures in the franchise. He then appeared in The Northman, a Viking epic directed by Robert Eggers.
