Alyssa Ashley Nichols, professionally known as Indigo, was born in 1984 in Los Angeles, California. Growing up in an artistic family, she was exposed to various aspects of the arts from an early age, which she attributes to her interest in the arts.
Indigo began her acting career at the age of 5, booking her first commercial for Armour Hot Dog. She went on to appear in various student films and industrials, building a reputation among casting directors in the industry.
At the age of 10, Indigo landed her first film role, playing opposite Louis Gossett Jr. in the Showtime film "Zooman" (1995),an adaptation of the play "Zooman and the Sign".
During her freshman year in high school, Indigo was accepted into the prestigious California State Summer School for the Arts, also receiving the Governor's Medallion award in recognition of her achievement.
She later auditioned and was accepted into the Los Angeles County High School of the Arts, where she changed her name to Indigo. Prior to her junior year, Indigo took the CHSPE and received her high school diploma a semester early, graduating a year and a half ahead of schedule.
Indigo has also made a name for herself in the voice-over industry, having worked on radio commercials for brands such as McDonald's, U.S. Army, Nestle's Crunch, and Geico, as well as lending her voice to animations for shows like "Boondocks", "Curious George", and "Family Guy".
Throughout her career, Indigo has made numerous guest appearances on TV shows, including "The Good Bad Guy", "Sister, Sister", "Chicago Hope", "NYPD Blue", "Crossing Jordan", "Judging Amy", "Girlfriends", "Strong Medicine", "Cold Case", and "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation". She has also had recurring roles on shows like "Minor Adjustments", "Any Day Now", "Boston Public", "Buffy the Vampire Slayer", and "Weeds", earning a SAG nomination for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series in 2007.
