Indra Kumar, born Indra Irani, is a renowned Indian film actor, director, and producer who has made a significant impact in the Hindi film industry. Born into a humble family, Kumar's upbringing and success can be attributed to his eldest sister Aruna Irani, who took on the responsibility of caring for her siblings after their mother's passing.
Kumar's educational background includes attending Utpal Shaangvi Global School, Mumbai, and later Ascend International School, Mumbai. He made his acting debut in Kismat (1969) and appeared in Biwi Kiraya Ki (1975). His Gujarati debut was in Gangapur Ni Ganga (1980),followed by an Assamese movie Charotar Ni Champa (1982) in 1981.
In 1985, Kumar co-founded Maruti Films Pvt Ltd with Ashok Navalkumar, producing films such as Mohabbat (1985),Kasam (1988),and Daddy Cool: Join the Fun (2009). His directorial debut was the blockbuster movie Dil (1990),starring Aamir Khan and Madhuri Dixit, which earned Rs. 180 million and received eight award nominations.
Kumar's subsequent directorial ventures include Beta (1992),Raja (1995),Ishq (1997),Mann - Soul's Heart (1999),Aashiq (2001),Masti (2004),Dhamaal (2007),Double Dhamaal (2011),Grand Masti (2013),Super Nani (2014),Great Grand Masti (2016),Total Dhamaal (2019),and Thank God (2022).
