Jason Matthew Smith was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, where he spent his formative years before his family relocated to the Midwest, specifically to Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana, before finally settling in Cincinnati. It was in Cincinnati that he attended both high school and college, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Acting from the University of Cincinnati's College-Conservatory of Music.
After completing his undergraduate degree, Smith furthered his education by attending Northern Illinois University, where he earned his Master of Fine Arts degree in Acting. During his time at NIU, he had the opportunity to study with renowned instructors Katheryn Gately and Gene Terrusso, who are part of the Miesner technique.
In the year 2000, Smith made the move to Los Angeles, where he has since established himself as a talented actor, with a string of notable guest starring and starring roles in both film and television. One of his most memorable performances was his portrayal of Eric Olczyk, a line-backer, in the AFI Award-winning series Playmakers for ESPN.
Smith is also well-known for his role as Hendorff, affectionately nicknamed "Cupcake," in the JJ Abrams-directed films Star Trek and Star Trek 2. Today, he resides in Studio City, California, with his wife Annabelle and their two sons, Samuel Amazigh and Simon Azayan.
