Jessica Ellen Cornish, professionally known as Jessie J, was born on March 27, 1988, in the bustling city of Redbridge, London. Her early years were marked by a passion for the performing arts, as she attended Colins Performing Arts School as a child. This nurturing environment laid the foundation for her future success, as she was cast in Andrew Lloyd Weber's iconic musical "Whistle Down the Wind" at the tender age of 11.
As she grew older, Jessie J's talents were recognized by a major record label, Gut Records, which signed her as a solo artist. Although the record company ultimately went bankrupt before releasing an album, Jessie J's determination and resilience did not waver. Instead, she channeled her energy into songwriting, securing a contract with Sony ATV.
Her impressive songwriting skills soon caught the attention of some of the biggest names in the industry, as she penned hits for the likes of Rihanna, Justin Timberlake, Christina Aguilera, and Alicia Keys. One of her most notable songwriting credits is the 2009 hit single "Party in the USA" for Miley Cyrus.
In 2010, Jessie J released her debut single, "Do It Like a Dude," which was originally intended for Rihanna but ultimately became her own chart-topping hit, reaching number 2 on the UK charts. The following year, she collaborated with B.o.B on the number 1 hit single "Price Tag," which debuted in the UK on February 28, 2011.
