Biography

Jhene Erwin is a multifaceted creative force based in Toronto, whose impressive body of work has garnered widespread recognition and acclaim at numerous prestigious film festivals worldwide.

Her award-winning films have screened at esteemed events such as the Toronto International Film Festival, the Boston Film Festival, PBS Online Film Festival, Seattle's PBS affiliate KCTS, and INPUT El Salvador, solidifying her reputation as a talented and innovative filmmaker.

Erwin's notable achievements include being selected as one of four women internationally to contribute to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation website as part of their stillbirth series, and receiving an Audience Choice award for her short film The House I Keep at the Hollyshorts Film Festival in Los Angeles.

She has also been the recipient of several grants, including a grant from the Canada Council for the Arts for her feature-length documentary The Undeserving Widow, an Artist Trust grant from the City of Seattle for her filmmaking, and an equipment grant from Northwest Film Forum.

With a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting from Ryerson University, Erwin has showcased her versatility as a performer by taking on both starring and supporting roles in various films and television series, including Five Days at Memorial, Cabinet of Curiosities, The Comey Rule, Tallboyz, Jett, The House I Keep, Jupiter's Legacy, and Psych.
