Jim was born in Toronto, Ontario, and his fascination with the entertainment industry began at a tender age of 12, when he wrote and directed a film called The Generals Family during a grade school competition. This marked the starting point of his professional journey, which commenced in 1978 as an extra in numerous C.B.C productions.
His first feature film appearance as an extra took place in the movie Running, starring the renowned Michael Douglas. Jim was thrilled to have a photo taken with Douglas, which he still treasures as a keepsake. Throughout his career, he has had the privilege of working alongside notable actors such as Marlon Brando, Suzanne Pleshette, Lee Grant, Joe Flaherty, and Tony Rosato, to name a few.
In addition to his on-screen endeavors, Jim has also made a significant impact behind the camera. In the early 1980s, he began his behind-the-scenes career at Rogers Cable, where he directed live call-in shows for prominent figures such as Jack Layton and Mayor Art Eggleton. He also directed the weekly council meetings, honing his skills as a versatile and talented professional.
Jim's journey continued in the early 1990s, when he joined the Directors Guild of Canada. He worked in various roles, including the locations department, as an assistant director, and as an assistant art director. After gaining extensive in experience the industry, Jim has now come full circle, and is pursuing his passion for acting.
