Jim was born to Rosemary, a dedicated nurse, and Jeremy, a biology teacher and headmaster, in Essex, England. He spent his childhood on the Isle of Wight, where he attended his father's school.
After completing his education, Jim embarked on a year-long teaching stint in Kenya before pursuing higher education at Exeter University. He studied Ancient History and Archaeology, concurrently honing his skills in stand-up comedy and sketch comedy in local clubs.
Upon graduating, Jim relocated to London, where he held various jobs, including a stint as a researcher in the BBC history department and an assistant at Tiger Aspect.
Jim's journey took a new turn when he moved to Prague, where he quickly became involved in the local theatre scene. He began taking on various roles, eventually co-founding his own theatre company, Blood, Love & Rhetoric, and writing, directing, and performing in around 30 plays over the next decade.
Some of his notable performances include his original take on Jorge Luis Borges' works, 'The Enemies,' as well as roles in plays such as Rosencratz and Guildenstern are Dead, The Caretaker, Doll's House, and The Great Gatsby. He also directed productions of Chekhov, Pinter, Buchner, and Zurich Plays: A Dada history of dada.
Additionally, Jim founded the Blood, Love & Rhetoric Comedy Show, which has gained international recognition as one of the best in Europe and has featured a long list of celebrity guests.
Jim's notable roles in film and television include Fergus in Carnival Row, Templar Knight Ulric in Knightfall, a soldier in the original Snowpiercer movie, and Sgt Yure Teplov in Shadow and Bone. He has several projects lined up for release in 2022, including George Bologne in the highly anticipated movie Chevalier, as well as roles in the drama series Last Light and the horror feature film Devil.
Jim divides his time between Prague and London.
