Joan Severance was born and raised in Houston, Texas, where she spent her formative years under the nurturing influence of her hometown. At the tender age of 18, she received a life-changing invitation from the esteemed John Casablancas of Elite models to embark on a modeling career in the City of Light, Paris, France. With a sense of adventure and a willingness to take a chance, she bid farewell to her Texan roots and set off for the fashion capital of the world.
Within a remarkably short span of eight months, Joan's star began to rise, as she graced the covers of international magazines and strutted down the catwalks of top designers. Her impressive portfolio soon landed her coveted campaigns for renowned fashion houses such as Chanel and Versace. Feeling the itch to conquer new territories, she made the bold move to New York City, where she quickly secured several national commercials for prominent brands like Windsong perfume, Breck shampoo, Clairol, English Leather, L'oreal, Revlon, and Maybeline.
After a string of successful commercials and a high-profile editorial career, Joan bid farewell to the world of modeling and set her sights on the silver screen. Within weeks, she had secured a manager, an agent, and was studying with several acting coaches to hone her craft. It wasn't long before she landed her first major role on the CBS television series "Wiseguy" (1987),starring Ken Wahl and Kevin Spacey.
Joan's breakthrough performance didn't go unnoticed, and she soon found herself working alongside esteemed directors and actors.
