Here is the biography of Joanna Moore:
Joanna Moore was a Southern-bred beauty with a captivating whiskey-like voice and stunning, creamy blonde looks. Born Dorothy Joan Cook on November 10, 1934, in Americus, Georgia, she was the elder daughter of Dorothy Martha (née English) and Henry Anderson Cook III. Tragedy struck when her mother and baby sister died in a fatal car accident in 1941, followed by her father's death from severe injuries a year later. Joanna was adopted by a well-to-do family who changed her name to Joanna.
After marrying and divorcing her first husband, Willis Moore, in 1953, Joanna enrolled at Agnes Scott College in Decatur, Georgia. She won a local beauty contest, which led to her being spotted by a Universal producer and signed to a contract. Joanna began her acting career with roles in TV anthologies and "B" movies, including the film noir "Appointment with a Shadow" (1957) and the romantic drama "Flood Tide" (1957).
Joanna's career continued to rise with roles in "A" pictures, including "The Last Angry Man" (1959) and "The Andy Griffith Show" (1960),where she played the girlfriend of Sheriff Andy Taylor. She married actor Ryan O'Neal in 1963, and they had two children, Tatum and Griffin, who also became actors.
However, Joanna's personal life began to unravel, and she struggled with addiction and depression. She was arrested multiple times for drunk driving and lost custody of her children in 1970. She checked into a state hospital for psychiatric treatment and went on to marry and divorce three more times.
Despite her struggles, Joanna continued to act, appearing in films like "Countdown" (1967),"Never a Dull Moment" (1968),and "The Hindenburg" (1975). She also appeared regularly on TV shows, including "The Virginian," "Judd for the Defense," and "The Waltons."
After a long period of relative silence, Joanna was diagnosed with lung cancer in 1996 and passed away on November 22, 1997, at the age of 63. Her granddaughter, Kevin Jack McEnroe, published a novel, "Our Town," in 2015, which was inspired by Joanna's struggles with addiction and its impact on her family.
