Joe Esposito was born in the year 1938, marking the beginning of a life that would be intricately woven with the legend of Elvis Presley.
In 1958, Esposito's path crossed with that of the iconic singer while they were both serving in the military. Although they underwent basic training together at Fort Hood, Texas, it wasn't until a year later, when they were stationed in West Germany, that they finally had a face-to-face encounter. This chance meeting blossomed into a lasting friendship.
Esposito's professional relationship with Elvis began in 1960 when he took on the roles of road manager and bodyguard. He also collaborated with Elvis's aide, Marty Lacker, on the bookkeeping aspects of the operation. Notably, Esposito was responsible for arranging romantic encounters for Elvis with various women.
On a more personal note, Esposito held the distinction of being the best man at Elvis's wedding, while his wife, Joan, served as the matron of honor. Additionally, Esposito's musical talents were showcased when he began playing guitar for Elvis's recording sessions in 1971.
Following Elvis's untimely passing in 1977, Esposito embarked on a new venture, establishing the Sterling Coach Company, a Los Angeles-based limousine service. He later went on to become the road manager for the renowned pop group, the Bee Gees.
Esposito's connection to Elvis extended beyond his professional duties. He made appearances in several of Elvis's films and even portrayed himself in the 1981 documentary, This Is Elvis.
