John Dennison, a prominent figure in the Australian film and television industry, was born in the picturesque state of Queensland. His educational journey took him to the Australian Film, Television and Radio School (AFTRS),where he enrolled in 1981 and graduated in 1984 alongside his fellow student and future business partner, Tony Vaccher.
The dynamic duo's entrepreneurial spirit led them to establish Audio Loc Sound Design, a pioneering company that revolutionized the use of digital soundtracks in film and television. Until then, this technology had primarily been utilized in the music recording industry. Their innovative approach and expertise in sound design enabled them to create stunning audio experiences for smaller independent productions.
The partnership between Audio Loc Sound Design and Fairlight, a leading manufacturer of digital audio workstations, lasted for many years. During this period, the company's sound designers, including John Dennison and Tony Vaccher, continued to push the boundaries of audio storytelling, utilizing the Fairlight technology to create breathtaking soundscapes for a wide range of productions.
Their remarkable work and dedication to their craft continued until 2012, when the Screen Australia facility, where Audio Loc Sound Design was established, unfortunately ceased operations.
