Gregory Gregg, a talented individual, was born in Tasmania as an only child, destined to inherit the family farm. However, his path took an unexpected turn when he secured an audition at the prestigious National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) in Hobart.
Gregg's early career saw him have a season with the esteemed Melbourne Theatre Company, followed by his television debut in an episode of Consider Your Verdict in 1964. Later that year, he landed the lead role in ABC's production of Shakespeare's Othello.
Throughout his illustrious career, Gregg accumulated an impressive array of television credits, including Australian Playhouse, Wandjina!, The Adventures Of The Seaspray, Hunter, Riptide, Dynasty, and many more. His recurring role in the ABC drama Contrabandits from 1967-68 and the lead role of Jeff Mallow in the 1969 series Delta further solidified his reputation.
The 1970s saw Gregg appear in various British television series, before returning to Australia towards the decade's end. He made notable appearances in Chopper Squad and played the lead role of radio talk-back host Steve Black in The Oracle.
Gregg continued to alternate between the UK and Australia, with a string of local credits including A Country Practice, Bodyline, Homicide Squad, Tusitala, Captain James Cook, Rafferty's Rules, Cluedo, GP, Heartbreak High, Grass Roots, Home And Away, Rake, Crownies, Power Games: The Packer-Murdoch Story, House Of Bond, and Operation Buffalo.
In addition to his on-screen endeavors, Gregg was a prolific commercial voiceover artist, recording five novels for ABC radio. His passion for the Sydney Swans AFL team extended beyond mere fandom, as he served as an esteemed member and ambassador for the team.
