Born in South Korea, Barry was subsequently adopted by an American family and reared in rural Maryland, where he spent his formative years honing his skills in the realm of music, specifically within the context of choir, show choir, and various school plays. Following his graduation from Western Maryland College, where he had pursued a course of study in the fine arts and was subsequently inducted into the prestigious dramatic arts honors fraternity of Alpha Psi Omega, Barry was accepted into the Maryland State Police Academy, where he served as a State Trooper for several years prior to his retirement from law enforcement due to an on-duty injury. Notably, he was recognized as Waterloo's Trooper of the Year prior to his retirement.
After his early retirement from law enforcement, Barry returned to his roots in the acting profession in 2003. He subsequently secured work on various projects on the East Coast, including Captain Phillips, before relocating to Los Angeles in 2013, where he was cast in a number of notable productions, including Ana Maria in Novelaland, Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders, Tosh.0, Team Coco, and others.
