John Pirruccello is a versatile actor with a unique ability to excel in a wide range of roles, effortlessly transitioning between straight drama and black comedy. His relatable, everyman quality allows him to inhabit a diverse array of characters on both stage and screen.
Born in San Antonio, Texas, John is the son of an Air Force fighter pilot father and a speech pathologist mother. His paternal grandfather was a World War II veteran who flew numerous missions in the B-27 Flying Fortress, while his maternal grandfather was a test pilot who transported the Bell X-1 Glamorous Glennis to Edwards Air Force Base with Chuck Yeager as his co-pilot. Tragically, John's father, an A-1 Sandy pilot, was shot down and killed during the Vietnam War, leaving his mother to raise John and his sister on her own.
John's early life was marked by moves between Northern Virginia and Westminster West, Vermont, where he spent his formative years. He graduated from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst with a Bachelor of Science in Italian, spending his sophomore year in Siena. After starting his acting career in San Francisco, John honed his improv skills in a drop-in workshop led by the late Jim Cranna of The Committee, which also marked the beginning of his voiceover career.
John's extensive experience spans theatre, stand-up, sketch comedy, film, and television. His notable television roles include PI Nick Stavros in HBO's Phil Spector, corrupt Deputy Chad Broxford in Showtime's Twin Peaks: The Return, rogue cop O'Grady in FX's Mayans MC, and bitter divorcé police detective John Loach in HBO's Barry, for which he was twice nominated for a SAG Award.
In addition to his television work, John has made numerous guest-starring appearances, including the clueless Riley's Dad in FX's Better Things, the smarmy Stu in Hulu's Little Fires Everywhere, and Larry David's cheapskate golfing buddy Dennis in the 11th season premiere of HBO's Curb Your Enthusiasm.
John's film credits include Stegman in the Hulu original comedy film The Valet and the Marvel series She-Hulk, opposite Tatiana Maslany and Tim Roth. He lives in Santa Monica with his wife Julie and their two grown children.
