Johnathan McClain is a multifaceted actor and writer whose illustrious career has traversed the realms of theatre, film, television, and publishing, showcasing his remarkable versatility and range.
As an actor, Johnathan's extensive résumé boasts a notable performance as Megan Draper's agent, Alan Silver, in the final season of AMC's critically acclaimed drama Mad Men. He has also held the lead role in the TV Land comedy series Retired at 35, starring alongside Hollywood legends George Segal and Jessica Walter. Additionally, Johnathan has had Series Regular roles on The Bad Girl's Guide starring Jenny McCarthy, and Jessica Simpson's sitcom pilot for ABC.
Johnathan's television credits also include recurring roles on the CBS drama SEAL Team and Fox's long-running 24, as well as appearances on Grey's Anatomy, NCIS: Los Angeles, Trial and Error, The Exorcist, Scoundrels, Without a Trace, CSI, and many others.
His film credits include the Academy Award-nominated Far from Heaven, the recently released Walking With Herb, co-written by Mark Medoff and starring Edward James Olmos, Kathleen Quinlan, and George Lopez, as well as multiple independent features.
As a writer, Johnathan's feature film debut, The Outfit, co-written with Oscar winner Graham Moore, was produced by FilmNation and distributed by Focus Features in the Spring of 2022. Directed by Moore, the cast includes Mark Rylance, Zoey Deutch, Dylan O'Brien, Johnny Flynn, and Simon Russell Beale. Johnathan is currently developing several other film and TV projects, including a series based on his unexpected and surreal two-year adventure as the co-author of eight bestselling romance novels, which led him to become an Amazon top-100 ranked romance author for a time.
Johnathan hails from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and began his professional acting career on stage in Chicago, where he wrote and performed his critically acclaimed one-person show, Like It Is. The show's success led to its transfer to New York, where Johnathan was compared to visionary writer/actors such as Eric Bogosian, John Leguizamo, and Anna Deavere Smith. He has also amassed numerous other New York, regional, and Los Angeles theatre credits.
