Jonathan West embarked on a noteworthy acting career in July 2009, securing the pivotal role of 'Tim, Sr.' in the Detroit-based independent film "Happy Holiday", a production of Horizon Films, scripted by the talented Harry Arnold, and co-directed by the visionary duo Samuel Long and Caroline Rankin. This auspicious beginning marked the inception of his cinematic odyssey, which would subsequently unfold to encompass the realm of stage performances.
In the month of December, 2009, a significant milestone was achieved by the individual in question, as he made his highly anticipated theatrical debut at the prestigious 1515 Broadway location in Detroit. This momentous occasion marked the beginning of his journey as an accomplished thespian, as he took on the esteemed role of 'Jonathan Lewis' in the captivating production, "Shades of War". Penned by the talented Dara Harper and directed by the visionary David Harper, this production was a testament to the individual's exceptional acting abilities.
This early success served as a springboard for his return to the stage, as he reprised his role as 'Samuel Francis' at the esteemed Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History in October of the following year, 2010.
Over the course of the next several years, Jonathan engaged in a multitude of collaborations with various independent production companies, devoting his time and talents to the creation of both short and feature-length films. One of his most notable performances during this period was as the lead character, 'Marcus Duney Smalls', in WCT Entertainment's cinematic production, "Lovers and Friends". Written by the talented Camara Davis and directed by the accomplished Anthony Anderson, this film showcased Jonathan's impressive acting abilities to a wide audience.
