Jonno Roberts has been actively pursuing a career in acting in the United States since his relocation from New Zealand in the year 1999. Throughout his time in the US, he has garnered widespread recognition for his exceptional performances on both stage and screen, with his work being showcased across the United States and Europe.
Roberts has rapidly established himself as a talented performer, delivering powerful performances in a diverse range of productions that have been hailed as significant milestones in American theatre. Some of his most notable roles include his portrayal of the lead character in the hit New York production of Tracey Letts' "BUG", replacing Michael Shannon in the role, as well as his performances as Eilif in Janos Szasz' emotionally charged "Mother Courage" at the American Repertory Theatre, and as Edmund the Bastard opposite Stacy Keach's "King Lear" at the Goodman Theatre in Chicago. Additionally, he has appeared in Calixto Bieito's sole American production, "Camino Real", also at the Goodman Theatre.
Roberts has been recognized for his outstanding contributions to the arts, with a profile feature as a notable artist by the National Endowment for the Arts.
Prior to his move to the US, Roberts was well-known in New Zealand as a comedian, and he can still be occasionally seen performing at the legendary LA venue Largo, alongside his longtime friend and comedy partner Rhys Darby.
In addition to his extensive experience in the entertainment industry, Roberts has also received advanced education, holding a Master's degree from the Institute for Advanced Theatre Training at Harvard University, as well as the Moscow Arts Theatre School.
