José Mourinho, a renowned Portuguese football coach, was born on January 26th, 1963, in Setúbal, Portugal. Throughout his illustrious career, he has accumulated an impressive 25 senior trophies while managing FC Porto, Inter Milan, Chelsea, Real Madrid, and Manchester United.
Initially, Mourinho aspired to become a professional football player, but he later shifted his focus to coaching. He pursued a degree in sports science at the Technical University of Lisbon.
Mourinho's coaching career began in the early 1990s, serving as an interpreter under Sir Bobby Robson at Sporting Lisbon, FC Porto, and Barcelona. As his responsibilities grew, he remained at Barcelona under Robson's successor, Louis van Gaal.
Mourinho's first head coaching position was at Benfica and União de Leiria, but it was at FC Porto that he gained international recognition, winning the 2004 UEFA Champions League by defeating Monaco 3-0 in the final. He then joined Chelsea and guided the team to their first league title in 50 years during the 2004/05 season, earning 95 points, a record at the time.
In 2008, Mourinho moved to Internazionale in Serie A, helping the team win the treble of Serie A, Coppa Italia, and the UEFA Champions League in the 2009/10 season. He was awarded the first-ever FIFA 'World Coach of the Year' award in 2010 and subsequently joined Real Madrid, winning the 'Copa del Rey' in his first season and 'La Liga' the following year.
After leaving Real Madrid in June 2013, Mourinho returned to Chelsea for a second spell, during which they won another Premier League title. On May 27th, 2016, he joined Manchester United, guiding the team to victory in the Europa League and the League Cup.
Throughout his career, Mourinho has achieved an unprecedented feat by winning all domestic titles in a record four different countries: Portugal, England, Italy, and Spain. He is one of only three managers to have won the UEFA Champions League with two different clubs, FC Porto in 2004 and Inter Milan in 2010. Additionally, he has won the UEFA Cup/Europa League twice, with FC Porto and Manchester United.
