After completing his academic pursuits, he took a brief hiatus from the entertainment industry to serve his country as a Lieutenant in the United States Navy from 1968 to 1971. This period of military service undoubtedly instilled in him the importance of discipline, teamwork, and selflessness.
Following his military stint, he returned to the world of theater, appearing in various regional productions throughout the early 1970s. His talent and dedication eventually caught the attention of Broadway, leading to a notable performance in the 1975 production of "Good News".
