South Korean actor Ju Ji-Hoon has established a reputation for his impressive portrayals of kings and princes throughout his career, earning numerous accolades, including several grand prizes, or Daesangs.
Born as a model in 2003, Ju Ji-Hoon initially gained recognition through various commercials for prominent brands such as Levi's, Calvin Klein, and Reebok. During this time, he also secured small acting roles in several television series.
However, it was not until his breakthrough role as the cold-hearted Prince Shin in the 2006 South Korean romantic comedy "Princess Hours", based on the Manhwa Goong, that he truly gained widespread recognition. The drama was a huge success, both domestically and internationally, with a peak rating of 28.3%, and catapulted Ju into Korean Wave stardom.
Ju's performance in "Princess Hours" earned him the Best New Actor award at the MBC Drama Awards, along with his co-star Yoon Eun-Hye.
In March 2007, Ju starred in KBS2's revenge drama "The Devil", opposite Uhm Tae-Woong and Shin Min-Ah, and received the New Asian Star award at the 1st Astar TV Drama Awards for his performances in "Princess Hours" and "The Devil".
Ju made his film debut in 2008 with "Antique", based on the manga "Antique Bakery", which was invited to the 59th Berlin International Film Festival.
After a brief hiatus from the entertainment industry, Ju returned in 2012 with a role in the comedy film "I Am the King". He also starred in "Confession" (2014),"Mask" (2015),and "Asura: The City of Madness" (2016).
However, it was in 2018 that Ju truly solidified his position in the industry, starring in the films "The Spy Gone North" and "Dark Figure of Crime". His performances in both films were widely praised, and he received numerous Best Supporting Actor awards.
