Julia Arnall, a ravishing leading lady of the 1950s, was born Julia Ilse Hendrike Irmgard von Stein Liebenstein zu Bachfeld in 1928. Her childhood was spent in Berlin, where her father, an army officer, held a prominent position. Following the war's conclusion, she married Desmond Arnall, a British Army officer stationed in Berlin. In 1950, Julia and her husband, along with their young son Marcel, relocated to Britain. Two years later, their second son, Gabriel, was born.
Prior to her acting career, Julia worked as a model before being discovered by the Rank Organisation, which propelled her to stardom. Although she initially appeared in minor roles in a few films, her breakthrough performance came in the 1956 film Tears for Simon, which garnered moderate acclaim. However, the Rank Organisation soon dropped her from their roster. Julia continued to act, taking on various television roles, including appearances in The Saint (1962) and Emergency-Ward 10 (1957).
In 1956, Julia's marriage to Desmond Arnall came to an end, and she later remarried Robert Ottaway, a film, television, and jazz critic. The couple welcomed a daughter, Gina Carol Ottaway, in 1964.
