Julie Cobb was born into a theatrical family with a rich history of performance and ownership of theaters. Her mother, Helen Beverley, was a renowned Yiddish stage and film actress, while her father, Lee J. Cobb, was a famed award-winning actor. Her maternal grandparents were also performers and theater owners, setting the stage for Julie's future endeavors.
Growing up, Julie was involved in theater at Beverly Hills High School, where she was classmates with future notable actors Richard Dreyfuss and Albert Brooks. After completing her education at San Francisco State University, she decided to leave college to pursue her passion for acting in Los Angeles. Throughout her over forty-year career, she has appeared in over seventy television programs.
Julie may be best-remembered for her role as Jill Pembroke on the CBS series Charles in Charge (1984),as well as her recurring roles on Knots Landing (1979),Hearts Afire (1992),Magnum, P.I. (1980),Family Ties (1982),and Judging Amy (1999),among other television series.
In addition to her acting career, Julie is also a talented writer and director. She was awarded the Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Award for her performance as Maggie in Arthur Miller's "After the Fall" and won the same honor, as well as the Dramalogue Award, for her direction of Reginald Rose's "Twelve Angry Men" at the Company of Angels Theater.
Julie is also a published writer, with her column "The Path" appearing in the magazine journal Country Connections for several years. She has been trained and certified by the Coaches Training Institute and has worked with clients to help them realize their most productive selves.
Julie's daughter, Rosemary Morgan, followed in her mother's footsteps and became an actress before pursuing a career as a practicing attorney. Julie's first film, which she wrote and directed, Night Vet (2014),won the Best Short Film award at the Lady Filmmakers Festival.
