Uriel McCullum, professionally known as Julito McCullum, was born on December 16, 1990, in Brooklyn, New York, to Colombian and American parents, Glynis and Uriel Almanza. His mother, Glynis, made the courageous decision to relocate her child to a different environment after his father's tragic murder in a robbery gone bad, which had previously defined their life in the projects.
Julito's journey in the world of dance began just six weeks after he started learning the art form. His exceptional talent and dedication quickly led to professional bookings, and he landed his first film role in the pilot episode of "Miracles Boys", directed by a renowned group of filmmakers including Spike Lee, Leveer Burton, Ernest Dickerson, Nema Burnette, and Bill Duke, in 2004.
Following his breakthrough in "Miracles Boys", Julito secured the role of Jamal in the Emmy-nominated television series "Wool Cap", starring William H. Macy and newcomer Ke-Ke Palmer. In the subsequent year and a half, he continued to impress with guest-starring roles in the CBS series "Hack", commercials, and the Jordan 20th anniversary commercial, directed by none other than Spike Lee.
Julito's rapid rise to fame also included appearances in upcoming movies such as "Akeelah and the Bee", starring Angela Bassett, Laurence Fishburne, and his good friend Ke-Ke Palmer. With only a year and a half of professional experience under his belt, Julito's breakthrough was yet to come, but it was clear that he was destined for great things in the world of entertainment.
