Justin Chambers, a renowned male fashion model discovered by a modeling scout in a Paris Metro station, catapulted to fame with his portrayal of "Dr. Alex Karev" on ABC's Grey's Anatomy in 2005.
Born on July 11, 1970, in Springfield, Ohio, Justin Willman Chambers is one of five children to Pamela Sue (Willman) and John William Eugene Chambers II, with English, Irish, and German ancestry. He has a twin brother, Jason, an older brother, and two older sisters. During a family vacation in Paris, he was spotted by an agent and soon began modeling for prominent brands such as Calvin Klein, Giorgio Armani, and others throughout Europe, Japan, and the United States.
Chambers settled in New York in the 1990s, where he attended H.B. Studios for four years, earning him appearances in several off-Broadway productions and television roles. His first notable break came in 1995 with a four-month stint on NBC's daytime soap Another World, followed by roles in Harvest of Fire (1996) and Rose Hill (1997) opposite Jennifer Garner.
Chambers' career surged in the late 1990s, earning him a spot on the "IT" list and a description by Harper's Bazaar as "part-James Dean, part-Marlon Brando" in 1998. He made his big-screen debut in Liberty Heights (1999),a Barry Levinson drama, and then starred as D'Artagnan in The Musketeer (2001) alongside Catherine Deneuve and Mena Suvari.
He co-starred with Matthew McConaughey and Jennifer Lopez in The Wedding Planner (2001) and appeared in The Zodiac (2005) as a obsessed police detective. Chambers' career slowed down for a few years, but he made a comeback in 2005 with his iconic role as Dr. Alex Karev on Grey's Anatomy, opposite Katherine Heigl.
Chambers is married to Keisha, a model agency booker, whom he met while modeling with Calvin Klein. The couple has five children and resides in Los Angeles.
