Justin Leach is a seasoned professional with a storied career spanning multiple decades and continents. His journey in the animation industry began in the United States, where he started his career as an animator at Blue Sky Studios in 1997. During his tenure, he worked on numerous award-winning commercials, shorts, and films.
In 2001, Justin made the bold move to Japan, where he joined Production I.G as a CG creator. He worked on the critically acclaimed film Innocence: Ghost in the Shell 2, directed by Mamoru Oshii. This experience not only honed his skills but also gave him a deeper understanding of the Japanese animation industry.
Justin's next significant milestone came in 2005 when he was part of the founding team hired to launch Lucasfilm's new 3D animated series, Star Wars: The Clone Wars. His expertise and creative vision played a crucial role in bringing this ambitious project to life.
In 2007, Justin returned to Blue Sky Studios, where he continued to work on a range of successful films, including Ice Age 3: Dawn Of the Dinosaurs, Rio, Ice Age 4: Continental Drift, Epic, Rio 2, The Peanuts Movie, Ice Age: Collision Course, and Ferdinand.
In 2012, Justin made history by becoming the first person to successfully produce a Japanese anime using Kickstarter. His project, Kick-Heart, was written and directed by Masaaki Yuasa and created at Production I.G. The film received widespread critical acclaim and went on to participate in some of the top animation and film festivals around the world.
Justin's impressive track record continued with the production of Adventure Time: Food Chain and Under the Dog. In 2018, he took the bold step of founding his own production studio, Qubic Pictures, in Tokyo. His latest project, Eden, is a highly anticipated Netflix original series set to release in 2020.
