Kavan's Early Life and Formative Years
Born in Edmonton, Alberta, Kavan's life took an unexpected turn when his parents divorced, leaving him and his brother to be raised by their father. Despite this adversity, Kavan's childhood was filled with a variety of sports, where he excelled in football and martial arts.
As a teenager, Kavan discovered a passion for performing, often skipping school with a friend to record and rehearse skits that they would later take to local buses and shopping centers. This early start in the performing arts laid the foundation for his future career.
Education and Early Career
After completing his high school education, Kavan attended the University of Calgary, where he studied Economics for a year and a half before dropping out. He then took a year to contemplate his next move before enrolling in the Mount Royal University's performing arts program.
It was during his time at Mount Royal that Kavan developed a love for books and began writing. His passion for performance continued to grow, and he soon landed a lead role on the Canadian television show Destiny Ridge, which led him to move to Vancouver.
Acting Career
Kavan's acting career took off in 1999 when he caught the eye of director Brian De Palma, who cast him in the science fiction adventure Mission to Mars in 2000. Since then, he has appeared in a wide range of films and television shows, including FOX's Human Target, The CW's Smallville and Supernatural, SyFy's The Outer Limits, Sanctuary, and Eureka, USA Network's Fairly Legal, and The 4400, as well as DirectTV's crime drama Rogue, starring alongside Thandie Newton.
Kavan's versatility as an actor has led to a wide range of roles, from playing Jed Garrity in The 4400 to Major Evan Lorne in Stargate: Atlantis, and Deputy Andy in Eureka.
