Kelly Donovan was born on April 12, 1971, which coincidentally occurred just three minutes prior to the birth of his brother, Nicholas Brendon. Initially, Kelly's career trajectory took a behind-the-scenes approach, with his first credits including working as a production assistant on the independent film The Hard Truth in 1994, and later as a set dresser for the iconic television series Buffy the Vampire Slayer in 1997.
However, Kelly's true passion lay in acting, and he ultimately decided to pursue his original dream by transitioning to the other side of the camera. His entry into the world of entertainment came in the form of a small role in the television series City Guys in 1997. Shortly thereafter, Kelly made a guest appearance on MTV's late-night program Undressed in 1999.
The highlight of Kelly's career to date was his portrayal of "Xander Harris"' double on Buffy the Vampire Slayer in 1997. Following his guest spot on the hit television series, Kelly continued to work in various capacities, including stunt work for his brother and behind-the-scenes contributions to the Art Department.
To this day, Kelly remains active in the entertainment industry, continuing to perform stunt work for various television series, including the popular show Alias in 2001.
