Kelly Ripa's journey in the world of acting began during her senior high school play, The Ugly Duckling, where she was discovered by her current manager, Cathy Parker, who saw immense potential in her and encouraged her to pursue a career in acting. After completing her education at Camden County Community College in New Jersey, Kelly went on to perform in various local theater productions, honing her craft and gaining valuable experience.
In November 1990, Kelly joined the cast of the iconic soap opera All My Children, a move that marked the beginning of her successful television career. Her impressive performance earned her nominations for both the 1993 Daytime Emmy Award and the 1993 Soap Opera Award, a testament to her talent and dedication.
Interestingly, Kelly is the first member of her family to pursue a career in acting, making her a trailblazer in her family. With a background in ballet, which she began studying at the tender age of three, Kelly also has a musical inclination, being able to play the piano and sing, although she modestly describes herself as "no Barbra Streisand", implying that she doesn't consider herself a professional singer. Despite this, she has a pleasant singing voice and is capable of carrying a tune.
