Born in Los Angeles, California, but raised in Texas, K.J. is a multifaceted individual with a passion for advertising. His early life was marked by numerous national commercials and special promos for prominent brands such as McDonald's, Mountain Dew, Adidas, Nike, Fox Sports, PlayStation, and Subway. As he grew older, his curiosity shifted towards understanding the inner workings of advertising, leading him to pursue directing and writing endeavors.
In 2010, K.J. achieved significant success by penning an updated adaptation of the urban cult classic, Cooley High. This accomplishment led to his first feature film, "Caught on Tape," a progressive hip-hop musical starring Cedric the Entertainer, Vivica A. Fox, and Bokeem Woodbine. He also wrote the urban drama "Maestro," which was commissioned by Mitchell Lieb, President of Motion Picture Soundtracks, Disney Pictures.
K.J.'s transition into directing was solidified in 2012 when he won "Best Music Video" for "Welcome to Summer School." He decided to learn directing from the ground up, shadowing industry giant David Shane for three years before venturing out on his own. This hands-on approach allowed him to develop a unique style, often incorporating comedic elements into his work.
In his free time, K.J. enjoys gaming and has even started a channel called "The World's Worst Gamer." Despite being a novice gamer, his channel has gained significant traction, allowing him to draw inspiration from his experiences and channel them into his directing work. With a focus on performance-based spots, K.J. continues to thrive in the advertising industry, always pushing the boundaries of creativity and humor.
