Biography

Kevin Manser, a native of Adelaide, South Australia, embarked on a transformative journey at the tender age of 28, abandoning his six-month stint at the government utility Engineering and Water Supply, where he had been working at half pay, to pursue his aspirations as an actor in the vibrant city of London. Initially, he found success as a stage manager, gradually transitioning into a multitude of theatre productions, followed by a foray into television work. His breakout role as one of the original Daleks in the iconic television show Doctor Who marked a significant turning point in his career, with the remainder of the 1960s witnessing a prolific output of television productions, commercials, occasional films, and even a stint as a swimming coach. The allure of European and Asian annual holidays further enriched his experiences.

As the years passed, Kevin Manser returned to his native Australia in 1969, settling in Sydney, where he continued to hone his craft, maintaining a steady stream of projects. It wasn't until 1986, however, that he stumbled upon or was discovered by Australian Doctor Who fandom, swiftly becoming a fan favourite at conventions. Fast-forward to February 2000, when Kevin's life took an unexpected turn, as he was diagnosed with cancer. In the aftermath, he poured his heart and soul into penning his autobiography, The Memoirs of a Dalek, a testament to his resilience and unwavering dedication to his craft.
