Kevin David Sorbo, a man of many talents and passions, was born on September 24, 1958, in Mound, Minnesota, to Ardis (Thompson),a dedicated nurse, and Lynn Nain Sorbo, a high school teacher with a rich ancestry of Norwegian, English, Scottish, and German descent.
As a high school student, Kevin excelled in various sports, including football, baseball, and basketball, and even played multiple sports in college, including hockey. He also developed his acting skills by participating in numerous plays. After completing his education, Kevin joined an actors' theater group and embarked on a journey to Europe and Sydney, Australia, where he appeared in commercials.
In 1986, Kevin settled in Los Angeles and began making guest appearances on popular shows such as Murder, She Wrote. With his impressive physical stature at 6' 3" and muscular build, he was naturally suited for the title role in his signature series, Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, which premiered in 1995.
Throughout his career, Kevin has not only honed his acting skills but also learned the craft of film-making, directing and co-writing some episodes of Hercules. He also studied martial arts to perform many of his own stunts. Off-screen, Kevin's heart is just as big as Hercules', as he dedicates much of his time to "A World Fit For Kids!", a mentoring model that trains inner-city teens to use school, fitness, sports, and positive role models for themselves, and then become coaches and mentors for younger children.
In 1998, Kevin married lovely actress Sam Sorbo, best known for her dual role on Hercules: The Legendary Journeys as Serena/the Golden Hind, a female red deer.
