Yasuda Kimiyoshi, a renowned Japanese film director, was born in the vibrant city of Tokyo in the year 1911. Tragically, his life came to a close in the same city, Tokyo, in 1983. Throughout his illustrious career, Kimiyoshi was responsible for bringing to life an astonishing 88 films, with the majority of these being jidaigeki, a genre that he was particularly fond of.
Kimiyoshi's professional journey began in 1944 with the release of his first film, "Ouma Wa Nanajyunana Mangoku". As the years progressed, the director continued to hone his craft, and in 1964, he made the transition to television, working on numerous TV movies.
It is, however, his work on the "Zatoichi" film series that Kimiyoshi is perhaps most well-known for. His meticulous approach to filmmaking, which included meticulously drawing his own storyboards in advance of shooting, has become the hallmark of his unique style.
Kimiyoshi's dedication to his craft was evident in every aspect of his work, from the careful planning and execution of his storyboards to the precise direction of his films.
