Kris's educational background is marked by a unique blend of creative and technical pursuits. He initially studied architecture and set design at the prestigious Sint-Lukas instituut in Brussels, before transitioning to a brief career as an architect. This was followed by a period of intense artistic exploration, as he delved into drama studies at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, the Lee Strasberg's Theatre Institute in New York, and the Jeker Regie Studio organized by the Maastricht Theatre Academy.
Kris's professional endeavors span the realms of theatre, film, and television. He has had the privilege of working with both prominent theatrical institutions and smaller, more niche groups. Since 2002, he has been an integral part of the music theatre company Het Nieuwstedelijk, a role that has allowed him to showcase his talents and creativity.
As a writer and playwright, Kris is known for crafting texts and plays that are imbued with a sense of unease and tension. Often, his work draws heavily from his own life experiences, serving as a reflection of the world around him and the events that shape his existence. A prime example of this is his work on Lied, the generation project, which he created for Het Nieuwstedelijk following the birth of his son Jef. This project earned him the prestigious Toneelschrijfprijs van de Taalunie.
In addition to his work as a theatre and film maker, Kris is also a dedicated educator, researcher, and artistic coordinator. He currently holds positions at LUCA drama, school of arts, campus Lemmens (Leuven),where he is able to share his knowledge and expertise with the next generation of artists.
