Miyake Kuniko, a renowned Japanese actress, was born as Miura Yasu on September 17, 1916, in the Iwatsuki ward of Saitama City, Saitama, a prefecture located just north of Tokyo.
She began her acting career in the 1930s, initially joining Shochiku studio and appearing in the film "Yume No Sasayaki" ('Sasayaki's Dream) in 1934. Throughout her career, Miyake collaborated with acclaimed director Ozu Yasujiro on numerous occasions, starring in several classic films, including "Tokyo Story" and "Early Summer".
Miyake retired from the entertainment industry in 1942, following her marriage, but returned to acting in 1948, after World War II. During the 1960s, she transitioned to television serials, becoming a prominent figure in Japanese television.
Tragically, Miyake passed away on November 4, 1992, at the age of 76, due to heart failure. Despite her untimely passing, her legacy as a talented actress continues to be celebrated and remembered.
