Her early foray into the world of theatre took place at the Shakespeare Memorial Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon, where she walked-on and understudied for various productions.
As a seasoned actress, Lally appeared in hundreds of stage productions, films, and television programmes, showcasing her impressive range and versatility. Her extensive theatre credits included repertory performances at esteemed venues such as Manchester, Sheffield, Southport, Guildford, Liverpool, Birmingham, and the Bristol Old Vic.
Lally's London debut occurred in 1944, marking the beginning of a successful West End career. Her numerous stage successes included the critically acclaimed productions of "Dinner With the Family," "Difference of Opinion," "The Killing of Sister George," "Dear Octopus," and "The Beastly Beatitudes of Balthazar B." Notably, her performance in "Dinner With the Family" earned her a Clarence Derwent award in 1957.
