Biography

Larry Day has a remarkable career spanning over 25 years in the television and movie industry. He began his journey as a political reporter with CTV in Ottawa, where he honed his skills and developed a strong foundation in journalism. His subsequent roles as anchor in Regina for two years and in Calgary for 14 years further cemented his reputation as a seasoned news professional.

As a multifaceted individual, Larry has worked in various capacities, including senior reporter, assignment editor, news anchor, program host, news director, and program producer at CICT in Calgary. His impressive body of work has earned him numerous awards, including the prestigious Iris, Ampia, CanPro, and Canadian News Director awards.

Currently, Larry serves as the Executive Vice President of Pyramid Productions and producer of several popular programs, including Inside Movies for Movie Central, Filmography for Corus Entertainment, Kickboxing for TSN, and M Style for M Network. Prior to this, he worked as Manager, Business Development for WIC, where he was responsible for creating new television programs for international syndication.

In 1986, Larry took the bold step of forming his own production company, which has since produced seven regular series syndicated across Canada and in 70 countries overseas. One of his most notable creations is The Movie Show, which boasts an impressive 2,500 episodes and competes with Entertainment Tonight globally. Larry co-hosted The Movie Show for eight years, interviewing an impressive array of movie stars, directors, and writers.

Beyond his television work, Larry has also ventured into other creative pursuits. He has acted in several movies, composed television themes and scores, and received the Canadian national SOCAN award for television. Additionally, he has written and sold short fiction to CBC Radio and appeared as a contestant on Jeopardy.

Larry's personal life is just as impressive. He grew up on a farm in Saskatchewan, where he developed a passion for journalism at a young age. He edited his high school newspaper, wrote for his college paper, and freelanced for various publications, including Reader's Digest, Your Money, Calgary Magazine, and more.
